Now that we’ve entered the dog days of summer you’d expect the pace to slow a bit.
The news cycle has other ideas.
A massive worldwide tech outage, an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, President Biden’s withdrawal, and Kamala Harris’s rapid rise have PR pros scrambling to cut through the crowded news cycle.

Aug. 1-31. Black Philanthropy Month.
This annual global recognition brings awareness to the critical role that Black philanthropy plays in our communities. Spotlighting donors, hosting discussions, and highlighting the initiatives and efforts that your organization supports are all great ways to mark the month and Black philanthropists everywhere.
Aug. 1. World Wide Web Day.
This day marks the launch of the transformative World Wide Web in 1991. It can offer a timely hook to highlight how far your organization’s social media and website design has evolved. Aug. 8. International Cat Day.
Cats — and the ‘cat ladies’ who love them — are surely making headlines these days. International Cat Day offers a chance to highlight all cat lovers and an excuse to post some amusing cat videos.
Aug. 11. Last Day of the Summer Olympics.
It's safe to say that we can all use a bit of positive inspiration these days. The Olympics can deliver that in spades and offers a strong angle to showcase the superstars making a difference for your organization.
Aug. 12. International Youth Day.
International Youth Day aims to promote youth participation and engagement in different issues and challenges that impact them. It’s a layup opportunity to highlight young people making a difference or programming designed to improve their lives.
Aug. 19. World Humanitarian Day.
Use this day to recognize the people who are making a difference for your organization and community. Whether you work with them and hope to cross paths with them one day, you can show appreciation by recognizing their dedication and support in making the world a better place for everyone.
Aug. 26. National Women’s Equality Day.
Spotlight ways that your organization works to advance women’s rights and the work that still needs to be done to achieve gender equity and equality.
Aug. 29. Hurricane Katrina anniversary.
No one could have ever predicted the amount of damage that Hurricane Katrina caused on this terrible day 19 years ago.
